I am currently offering tutoring for Year 11 and 12 Advanced and Standard English. Having achieved a 96 in English Advanced, I focus on developing the precise analytical and writing skills required to perform at a Band 6 level.
HOW CAN I HELP YOU?
Given that the HSC syllabus has changed, I think it is especially important that if you find yourself in need of help with English, you find someone who has not only done well in the past but more so has experience teaching students. This is where I can help you; in addition to securing a band 6 in English, I have extensive experience tutoring students over the course of the last 12+ years.
WHAT DO I COVER IN OUR LESSONS?
• Meticulously cover each aspect of the rubric so you develop a thorough understanding of the module and the reasoning behind effective responses.
• Help you analyse your texts; finding literary techniques, explaining how they shape meaning, and teaching you how to develop concise, sophisticated analysis that directly addresses HSC verbs.
• Provide detailed step-by-step guidance on planning and writing clear and effective essays.
• Prepare you for the HSC with HSC-style essay questions to complete at home, followed by detailed feedback and constructive criticism.
Many students fall short not because they lack understanding of the text, but because they struggle to consistently translate their ideas into strong HSC responses. I focus on developing your understanding and appreciation of precision of expression, clarity of conceptual thought, and control of argument, which distinguishes a high Band 5 response from a Band 6 response.
