In Ext 1 they pretty much expect you to know how to write essays/feature articles/speeches/dialogue etc. That stuff is covered in the English (Adv) course.

The Extension 1 syllabus is more theoretical... um, you study movements such as Postmodernism or Gendered Language or some crap which I forget... You can get books on these topics and research online, but I haven't seen any ext1. TEXTBOOKS per se...

you've got problems if you don't know how to write an essay and your in advanced or extension english.
Essay writing is simple

Introduction
Body
Conclusion

I never understood how people didn't get the concept of an essay

I don't think there is. Content is a different story, but its the same with constructing texts in general (i.e. content is the hard part). But when people say 'I don't know how to write an essay, I just don't get it' and they mean structure, thats what really gets me cos its so simple

I don't really think that those excel books are any good at all.

True it might be good for extra research but its just something about them that gives me the creeps.
