Yes everybody has to do proofs in maths, including possibly in the HSC.

You wont find answers in the textbook because by proving them you can tell if you have the answer or not.

i cant find anything on it in any textbook and i cant do them. :(

the proofs are explained in all textbooks i have (maths in focus, cambridge) and u only need 2 know the proofs if you are doing ext 1.

Yeah. In one of the exercises, it asks us to graph something, but it doesn't provide us with the answers, so we have no way of telling whether or not we are doing it correctly

i was actually talking about general proofs, for example; proofs of the sin and the cos rule, proofs of the midpoint formula, stuff like that, not induction and trig proofs...

knowing the proofs that i stated above is 3U

My school doesn't use fitzpatrick, but I bought it anyway. Math in Focus is good with explanations. The explanations are really easy to understand

I haven't read right through this thread, but the coroneos book that we use has the proofs (for circle geometry at least)

...I don't think you have to memorise the proofs to theorems.

UH, maths in focus is the book that we were originally assigned...personally i think you'd be better prepared for exams if you used a different textbook. The questions from the parts we worked from were fairly easy...actually very easy hence the upgrade (at least in my mind) to the older but much wiser coroneos book.

Ive been asked to prove that tangents from a common point are equal for circle geometry. And that is a common rule used.
