Has anyone else done the break up of Yugoslavia or something similar? If so what angle did you look at it from? Thanks :)

I initialy thought about doing Jugolslavija but, it's too much of a risk.

The break-up is still a pretty sensitive topic with strong views. Even though its not "professional" some teachers who have strong views may disagree with your point of view which as bad as it sounds might lead to you losing marks.

Apart from that I found it pretty difficult to find an historian/author that doesn't have a sense bias. They are either Pro Croat and Bosniak or Pro Serb.

So if it was me, I wouldn't do it primarily because the topic is really hard to explore and you will make your life harder then what it needs to be.

What is the exact area of debate? The Serbs wanted land that was unlawfully given to them after WWII and the traditional owners wanted it back. There is no debate.

Please take your nationalistic bullshit somewhere else. If you have nothing smart to contribute then stay away.

History Extension is a subject that revolves around objectivity and exploring both sides of the argument.

You have no bearing whatsoever as to my race or nationality (for future reference I'm Hungarian). Now my opinion is thoroughly based through study of World Order (legal studies). From the evidence provided, this is my ultimatum.
Now I may be right or i may be wrong. However my 'nationalistic bullshit' is my opinion , and i in turn have every right to express this.

I don't believe in objectivity, only variations in the truth-because truth is relative. Remember who said this, friend?
History extension is a subject which values opinion and indecision. So before you start to defame my 'nationalistic bullshit', try to understand it.

I may not believe in other arguments, but i still understand that there may be conflicting perspectives.

If you don't value heated argument or conflicting opinion, maybe history extension wasn't the subject for you, friend.

NOTE: This is by no means a negative comment towards you(Don't even know you) Just don't like it when people tell me that my opinion is crap.
Good luck with exams(Y)

Maia Z, I don't know your standing on the issue and whether you agree or disagree with me, if you feel a passion to do it, then by all means go ahead. History isn't about remaining safe and hidden. If you feel the need to search for your own truth-THEN STUDY IT!!

I have my own opinion but go create yours. There is no truth with history, only variation. So go and provide another perspective of the spectrum. Ignore everyone who says it's 'controversial'. Unfortunately they have failed in realising the true value of the History Extension course.

good luck

I find it a bit funny that just above this post you clearly stated "There is no debate":D

About your first post, Serbia which was a part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and after WWII gained little or no territory, rather the Partisans under Tito (who wasn't Serbian by the way) overthrew the monarchy and from there on Communism or Titoism was the trend. If anything Serbia turned out worse from WWII considering that Tito would end up granting autonomy to both Kosovo and Vojvodina. How that has come to bite Serbia in the ass ay? lol. No offence, you might seem to have a little grudge from WWI that Vojvodina was granted to Serbia from Austria-Hungary. But don't worry, Serbia is a banana republic today and that province will soon become independent.

But end of the day, I respect your opinion, after all it would be pretty boring if we all were unanimous in our views ey? It's just your first post came across as being a bit ignorant much like the many people i have encountered who unlike you, refuse to even acknowledge differing perspectives.

I'm also doing World Order despite the fact my class is doing family. So i guess we share a common interest but not necessarily the same view lol

Good luck to you as well.

Generally speaking, meilz92 is spot on. I, unfortunately, did a topic which I couldn't find one bit of unbiased information and the more I researched, the harder it was to formulate a thesis and thus an essay. (By this stage, I couldn't really turn back on all the research I had done.) You could go the other way and debate the sources and discuss the bias, but answering a question relating to what happened etc. will be almost impossible. If there is clearly no one dominating side in the argument/issue/event, you won't do well because you are limited in your sources. You'll end up criticizing every source and start to question your own investigation skills because you have nothing authoritative to compare your sources to.

Please remember that ALL historians are biased to some extent or other and that in answering the question you formulate you should be at least identifying the bias of each of your sources, regardless of topic.

If you really want to do a topic that is relatively recent then the very fact that there are still heated debates about the issue shouldn't be a turn off but should be able to be part of the argument.
