i dont wax or pluck my eyebrows. i used to be meticulous about them, but then i discovered eyebrow shadow, and since my eyebrows are fair, i just fill them in with one stroke. takes less than 5 seconds, wonderful invention.

i think over-plucking your eyebrows is one of the worst things you can do for your overall facial structure. if you were born with thick eyebrows, chances are a thicker shape suits you more.

however, i have to say that if they are so fair they are almost invisible, then slightly dying or shading your brows adds so much to your face.

blonde eyebrows freak me out.

I agree that overplucking is the worst thing for your overall appearance. Most people suit their natural brow shape.

p.s. alleycat, that chick in your sig - she has the most beautiful eyebrows! I love those kind of straight, natural brows.

actually, threading is painfull! Made my eyes water when i had my brows threaded..its like tweezing except you pull out 5 hairs instead of one. You have to be careful to hold the skin tight because if you don't, the thread can rip at your skin and make you bleed or leave a red mark

Tweezing is painless for me, as I always do mine after a shower when your pores are open and the hair follicles have softened. I've never waxed my brows as my skin is quite sensitive all over and god knows how my eyelids would react to wax!

yes but when you get your eyebrows threaded at a salon, you don't have the luxury of having post-shower open pores ...waxing isn't too bad, i find it to be least painful, the only thing is that the wax is sometimes hot and you have minor redness/swelling for an hour or 2 after

Usually at a salon they'll put a warmed face cloth over your brows for 5-10 mins for the hairs to soften. Rather painless for me, no red bumps, swelling, rashes etc.

Threading is rather interesting really! I've never seen it done before but if you're curious, I found this video where you can see how it's done: http://eyebrowthreading.biz/video.html

I think the threading ones are painless. When I went to India, I visited a beauty parlour (to ask about henna prices) and on the other end of the stroes were two girls getting their eyebrows threaded. And they looked very very relaxed, just laying back onto the chair while the salon lady was just holding the string (very) tight and just like 'flicking' at her eyebrows. So I guess its painless. Not sure if they do any here though

Threading kills...at least for me anyways because I have quite thick eyebrows. I've been getting them threaded for almost 2 years now and it still hurts as much as it did when I first got them threaded.

i'm getting my eyebrows shaped next week.. i feel so dirty letting them go all frazzled - its been about 4 days since i've plucked them (i sound like i'm at AA) but yeah i thought i might as well get them professionally done, since its going to be cheaper for me because i'm gonna get a bikini wax and they have some deal brazillian + eyebrows for $40.

I go to a lady called Martha Bedgood at MAC in Elizabeth St David Jones. Its $45, but redeemable on products, so i just see it as buying make up. Shes great, the first time she shaped my eyebrows i was so shocked, she kept the natural shape and my eyebrows were still a good size. My overall look had changed, i looked much better than i did before. She only plucks, and was trained by a Bobbi Brown expert from the USA. Shes so good, shes going to be in Vogue! I suggest that people with horrid eyebrows go to her, shes VERY good at what she does and isn't like one of those crap beauticians who havent specialised in eyebrow shaping . Shes been trained in eyebrow shaping. I go to her about once every 2 months, just to maintain the shape. I wouldn't wax though, ive seen to many disasters to actually applaud waxing! Threading after a while apparantly causes a stubble... thats what ive heard!

(You can't really see my eyebrows in my avatar.. but trust me, theyre really good! Even my date for the yr 11 dance commented on them :) :) )
I also see Martha, I refuse to go get my eyebrows shaped anywhere else. (Also, i'm the biggest sucker for MAC cosmectics). She is absolutely the best there is, EVER.

Your brows look great hun! Just a question though - what does 'redeemable on products' mean?

it's very hard to get the perfect "shape" for urself...
my eyebrows grow too fast, and get very messy...
someone did it for me before, it became so thin I kinda regretted
so now I try doing it myself, but still...when it grows again it becomes messed up and I look like a man :(

just let them go feral for about a month, then go to a professional. After they have shaped them, just pluck the strays as they grow back

and redeemable on products means if its say $45 redeemable on products, you can buy products worth $45 or more, and you dont "technically" pay for the waxing - just for the products

i got my eyebrows threaded in the summer while overseas... omfg, i had so many tears coming out.. it was embarrassing really, coz the beautician didnt realise it was my first time.. i'd definitely do it again though, threading makes eyebrows so perfect.
