Yo so as the title suggests I bombed english adv rlly bad which the task was worth 30%. The cohort is extremely competitive having multiple people who have gotten full marks for both sections so I was wondering if I should drop to standard?

However, I know what I did wrong and am super prepared to fix it and ik i can easily pull my rank up however I just want to know if dropping to std is the better option

Any Advice is much appreciated :)

How many more assessments do you have? For us, we already did 1 (worth 20%) and 2 more 20% each, and one trials 30-40%.

If its similar for you, you need to do a lot of work to bump up your mark, especially trials. Otherwise, drop it, not worth getting low band 5s and 4s overall.

lowk i feel like dropping to standard is typically not the best option

afaik doing well in standard is so much harder than doing well in adv.. and like if u think u are able to come back i think thats more worth

like if you check uac's scaling report it legit says in 2024 1% of the std cohort got a b6, and 15% of the adv cohort did

like thats actually insane if u ask me

is 30% weighting a lot for an assessment task? I feel like im doomed bc of it

i dont think so, theres still 3 more assessment tasks to pull your rank back up, and then theres externals as well
in the grand scheme of things i dont think 30% weighting is that significant as long as you actually do do better in the next tasks

no one cares about 1st tasks he shouldn't worry so much

you should stay. It's only the first assessment, and it sounds like you have a strong cohort. If you can bring your rank up, you will be ok; there are still 3 more assessments - trials can change a lot and could be worth up to 40%. Does your school give you a handbook that shows how much your future assessments are weighted? It could be a guide on what to really focus on.
