Wow, nice collection you got there...

R v Kina may have been mentioned above, sorry if it has! But it's a good one that shows language barriers and ineffectiveness of the legal system etc...

yep:
have a look at:  ABC’s ‘Four Corners’ – Excuse for Murder (May 1993) – R v. Kina case

it is an ABC documentary before the Rv. Kina case, which was the turning point of the proceedings- she was aquitted after like 8 years in jail.

This is a transcript of a 60 Minutes story on may 15th, called 'Listen Up'. It talks of the effect that divorce has on children.

It might be good for effectiveness of the law (responding to wants and needs of the child, etc), and maybe how the law reflects societal moral and ethical standards - eg how easily obtained divorces are, no-fault divorce, number of divorces occuring today compared to before no-fault divorce was introduced...

Anyway, let me all know what you think.

do you people realise that you can make up cases? not every case in australia and overseas is available to the public and you can make up almost any case if you have a basic plot that is likely to occur, like maybe child custody going wrong, or defacto relationships settled in an unjust manner. you can make up cases, its been confirmed by my teacher, a legal studies hsc marker, they can't say anything, nor do they go look it up, they couldn't careless, as long as you know what you're talking about. don't waste time memorising cases, know like 1 or 2, but make up ones if you have to, esp for family and consumers.

I don't think its advisable for you to make up cases, the markers will be able to tell unless you make it sound real. But thats a risk you will take if you do.

Goan_Crazy, do you know any LCMDs or you just worried you'll miss something?A word of advice: You won't have time to put them all in, nor will you need them all.
Sorry if this insults you in any way, cos it's not the intention. But dude, chill a bit.

Um, we did a case study last year for family, it is a good one and shows the beginning of the acceptance of BWS (Battered Wife Syndrome) in common law.
R v Osland (Vic) 1997.
Even though it is a Victorian case, it is useful as a reference to how laws haaave changed in relation to domestic violence, and also murder (now that BWS is accepted as a partial defence, due to the Osland precedent)
