I don't mean to sound condescending but have you seen any of his non-hollywood blockbusters. Not many people i know have but i think the Prestige and Memento are better than Interstellar or any Batman film

Darren Aronofsky (his films converge on very dark and bleak subject matter... beautifully and artfully.)
Christopher Nolan (I needn't say any more.)
David Fincher (knows how to deliver highly polished and intellectual films.)
