saw it at the Norton St. Palace at Leichardt (sp?) which is also screening Alexandra's Project. I doubt they would play "Secretary" in major cinemas its not that commercial and I don't think the majority of people would find it their cup of tea.

*crosses fingers* I hope Hoyts Mandarin Centre's (Chatswood) gonna screen it :rolleyes:

what do you think of 'secretary' anyway?

I watched Alexandra's Project today. I must say I'm quite impressed on the whole.
I think it's a psychological thriller, is it. Rather gripping it was.
oh, and 'shocking' ;)
the birth of a new genre, psychopornographic thriller!
just kidding! :D

if you like American Beauty I think you're likely to enjoy this.

Secretary was a good black comedy. I'm a big fan of Maggie Gyllenhaal and her acting confirmed her ability to tackle complex roles such as that of Lee. IMO Lee and Edward are two very messed up people, Lee is kinda retarded (he asks her straight "Did you have sex?" and um she just giggles and replies "I dunno") and Edward borders on creepy (hes got the gaze and all). I don't want to give the movie away but the first half was definitely the better. Keep an eye out for lee's BF whose a scene stealer. The end crept away into an awkward situation where it got even more weird (the sit-in) and desperate but the end was all happy happy joy joy ever after.

If your squirmish then you might find things a tad gross. But if you can handle S&M, self-mutilation, female masturbation, full frontal nudity and what he happens to get off on then yeah its a good film.

I have to say that I'm an 80s teen movie fan too. "Breakfast Club" was great and if I had taped it late Saturday night i would have watched again and again until i'd know the script of by heart. It what I did with "Pretty In Pink". Geez, i wish they could have made the HSC as interesting as this. Other movies i love are:
* Ten things I hate about you
* She's all that
* the Others (with Nicky Kidman)
* Amy
* A life less ordinary
and basically anything with Adam Sandler in it. :uhhuh:
