but i wasn't gonna be over 18 anyway so unless i got fake id i wouldn've been able to see it anyway
reallky? you had to be 18??? i knew for like the french and italian film festivals you had to be but i thought for the sydney one it didnt matter?? oh well... i really wanted to go to the 1st day when they had ALL the short films.. that would have been awesome!! as for RPF on DVD...im not sure... it wasnt on too long ago...

i think some movies are meant to be admired for their asthetic value and i admire good cinematography, lighting, music, characters etc but you also cant go past the fun stuff either! I just cant stand crappy hollywood blockbuster types with poor acting, humour and storylines... they insult peoples intelligence not to mention a waste $$$ and talent

Favourites, in as close to order of favouriteness as possible, are probably:
American Beauty / American Psycho - both of them are fuckin' amazing and are 'searing indictments' of the American consumerist dream. Nice.
Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas - Absolutely genius adaption of Hunter S. Thompson's classic book. Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro are gods in it.
Fight Club - Just a fuckin' brilliant film. Edward Norton you genius.
American History X - Edward Norton - again - you genius. This films confirms Norton's place as the best actor of his generation.
Memento - Brilliant film-making. Gotta' love some innovation.
Apocalypse Now - Very good stuff, a lot of tension in the film, and it's based on a good book (Conrad's Heart of Darkness).
American Pie 1 & 2 - Hey, if you don't like 'em, fair enough. But I loved them and thought they were so entertaining that it was almost idiotic. Not everyone's cup of tea, but DEFINITELY mine.
About A Boy - Saw it recently and it has to be up there, it really is a classic 'feel-good' movie and Hugh Grant is so good in it.
Requiem For A Dream - Amazing mindfuck of a film. Powerful. Loved it.
Mulholland Drive - Lynch's best and an absolute masterstroke of mindfuckery.

There are a lot of other films that I've just forgotten to put here. Se7en is good, as is The Shawshank Redemption, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest (which is even as good as Kesey's book), Pulp Fiction, Lock Stock, Fargo, Traffic, A Beautiful Mind, This Is Spinal Tap and The Royal Tenenbaums. That's a lot of films right there.

Lucy, thank you for proving that someone else in the world loved American Psycho as much as I did. Christian Bale is a genius.
Have you read the book? I'm doing my 4U English work on it, and absolutely LOVE it.

that is without doubt the strangest list of favourite movies I have ever seen...
they're all completely different types of movies...

I like some of the stuff you listed, but Street Fighter: The Movie ?! Do you like it cos its unintentionally funny or cos you actually like it? Sorry I don't want to sound like a dickhead or anything but that movie sucked HARD....

Oh and Judge Dredd is also very meh...
