Hey Guys,

I am in the same situation as jesza, although i am doing female athletes. I have to think of ways to help female athletes suffering from the following conditions:
-iron deficiency
-bone density
-menstruation
-pregnancy and
-eating disorders.

Any ideas?

Just to add some more :

Eating Disorders ...

- can lead to starvation, muscle wastage, electrolite imbalance and dehydration.
- common among 'appearance' sports (gymnastics, diving, ice-skating, body-building) and endurance events (long-distance swimming, running).
- also for men (particularly in weight classification sports like horse racing, wrestling, boxing).

Iron Deficiency :

- iron needed in blood to carry oxygen and CO2 and in muscluar and energy-producing chemical reactions.
- symptoms can include ; lethargy, weakness and premature fatigue (due to a reduced rate of lactate clearance, hence early fatigue).

Bone Density :

- calcium required in the blood to allow muscles and nerves to function correctly.
- RDI for women is 1100mg.

Pregnancy :

- heart rate should be kept below 140BPM.
