File opening question (1 Viewer)

you need to convert them to MPEG-1 files before opening them in real player or wmp or something. that's all i know, i haven't heard of a program that opens dat files.

u sure? cause the file i have is winmail.dat[1]. its supposed to have lecture notes etc..i got it from a lecturer, y would i need to convert it to a MPEG-1 file..? if i do need to convert, how do u do that

ooh its lecture notes? you can get a convertor, download.com or something. or when you download the file, save it as an avi. or mpeg file.

i looked uo some stuff, it said that if you try opening the file with excel, it might give you most of the stuff. im a little confused as to whether your file is a sound or a old wordperfect file. not sure, try all those above though.

Winmail.dat is just a file sent with Outlook with additional formatting. You can open it in Notepad, but there will be additional Outlook information that will be displayed as jibberish. Try to download the email into Outlook, and it should open normally.
