hiya ppl,

anyone doing a finance major here? any suggestions of good (meaning easy)electives to take?

All I know is everyone pretty much does mergers and acquisitions and it's sposed to be mighty tough. Synergies etc. This topic also interests me though, anyone have any useful input?

Depends on what areas you want to work in.

Apparently you HAVE to do portfolio

then there are basically two streams of majors..the corporate side and the investment side..

corporate is : M+A and Valuation
Investment: Derivative Securities and Trading
(IIRC)

and if you have CP free then international financial management may be useful.

It is also recommended you take some stats or microeconomics courses.

thanks for the advice rorix! im taking IFM this semester, which ive heard is one of the easier finance subjects. when did david johnstone say all this...isnt he like the head of finance??

Re: IFM, my friend did the Masters version (which is usaually pretty much the same thing) and said it was pretty easy...mainly different types of exchange rate transactions etc., but I don't know how accurate that is for the undergrad course.
