Hi Everyone,

Congrats to everyone who got in to Medicine this year. My name's Praveen and I'm a 4th year med student at UNSW. I'm offering med tutoring for first (or second) year med students.

The transition from high school to medicine is a challenging one. In med, there is no syllabus, the most minute details of lectures can be tested, and often the teaching can be a little unfocussed. After 4 years, I have hundreds of tips to share, many things I wish I knew when I started.

I'm happy to help out with any topics from the medical sciences (from biology through to pathology, histology and anything in between), clinical medical skills and even communication in medicine. A friend of mine, Mike, is also an extremely knowledgeable man who will be helping me out.

If you are interested, please let me know: praveen@student.unsw.edu.au

Cheers
Praveen.

$40/hr.

Yeah foundations doesn't count, but that's what troubles many students, it doesn't prepare you that well for the courses that come afterwards.

interestingly enough other med courses the 3/4/5/6 students do this for free (no student restrictions like ATSI or rural).. in conjunction with the uni.... up to you tho i think education in medicine shouldnt cost extra money but thats my philosophy..especially since many are not like consultant specialist/registrar or RMO or other medical tutors.

You could quite easily have a go at all the high school tutors out there, saying that public school education should not cost anything and that most HSC tutors are not professional chemists, physicists or mathematicians.

I've covered these courses and know how to teach them. Whether I'm a graduate or not shouldn't matter as long as the students learn from me.

i would've thought most med students would have the self-discipline and intelligence without the need for tutors
is this not the case?
Agreed most med students are very intelligent and self-disciplined, but if you look at the marks distribution at UNSW, the mean is ~63% from memory.
