therefore for most people in the case of getting some band 5s. you should be able to cross the 80 uai with no problem at all.1. Overview
In 2004 a total of 51 999 students received a UAI, a small increase over the corresponding
number in 2003. The gender balance was almost the same, with 52.5% of the UAI students
being female.
Sixteen percent of the students received a UAI above 90.00, 31.3% above 80.00, 45.8% above
70.00 and 59.1% above 60.00. These figures are similar to those in 2003.
Of the 21 students who received UAIs of 100, 11 are female and 10 male. They come from a
mix of government and non-government schools, and have studied a wide range of courses.
As in past years, females are over represented in the higher UAIs bands. In 2004, 53.4% of
students gaining a UAI of 99.00 or above were female; in 2003 the figure was 53.1%. For
students who gained a UAI of 95.00 or above the corresponding figures were 57.6% (2004)
and 57.9% (2003). Of the students who received a UAI of 90.00 or above the figures were
58.1% and 58.6% respectively.
Table A1 provides, for each course, the size of the candidature, the percentage of females and
the maximum UAI gained by a student enrolled in that course. What is clear is that in almost
all courses some students gained UAI in excess of 95.00, and for the majority of courses the
maximum UAI is higher.
