First of all, i wasnt able to attend my YR10 formal as i was overseas at the time so i am new to this kind of stuff. I've got myself a partner and im just trying to make a good impression without hinting at getting serious...not yet anyway as she's a really good friend

So on with the formal and some etiquette stuff

*Formal shopping? Is it usually done separate or do we go together?
*Shirt colour? Something about matching the shirt with their dress
*Corsage thingy? Wrist or pin on?
*Flowers? Thats obvious right?

Anything else important? Formal transport etc?

~ It's generally good to go shopping with partner once, even if you don't get the dress/suit/whatever just so you have an idea of what you will be wearing..
~ Doesn't have to match completely but don't clash!! :)
~ I think the norm is the wrist... Yes it is a corsage and they're very expensive for something so pointlessly sweet.
~ Don't you mean corsage? :|? It's really at your discretion dude

Transport: Well not an old battered Commodore thats for sure, depends I guess. With my formal in Novemeber we have to meet up at a park before hand to get photos so flashy transport is irrelevant, whereas some schools ferry their kids on busses to the venue ... however for my year 10 formal we had all kinds of crazy transport... wheel barrow, fire truck, airbrushed ute....

Oh and have fun and dance!!
Enjoy your afters too...

wheel barrow lol. I went in a limo for yr10, but i think it was mostly for the girls to feel special. Yr12 i was just gonna catch the bus, but a friend drove me there.

I couldnt be fucked shopping 2gther, just ask wether she likes silver or gold and then grab a tie that colour.

shirt doesnt need to match, but its a good idea to go dress colour = shirt colour.

best corsage = wrist

fuck the flowers, corsage covers that i like to think.

The after party will be one of the best nights of your life, so enjoy it.

it depends on how close you are as friends. Obviously you're going to just wear black pants and a shirt. So how about you let her go dress shopping with her girls, and you find a shirt after

*Shirt colour? Something about matching the shirt with their dress
flowing on from your first question. couples who colour-match are incrediby cute! sometimes it's hard to match the EXACT color so make sure your colours don't match. ie. if she wears a green dress, dont wear a red shirt! lol it's not Christmas yet. Find out wat she's wearing first!

*Corsage thingy? Wrist or pin on?
steer clear from pin ons coz her dress may not be appropriate for a pin-on. at my year 10 formal, a girl had a pin-on and it made a massive hole coz of the material of the dress. Wrist corsages are gorgeous! I'm sure she'll love it

*Flowers? Thats obvious right?
This depends on how close you are with the girl and/or whether you're interested in her. If so, flowers are a nice way of showing how you feel. But if you buy her a corsage and flowers, it may look over-done. Most of the time, you do either a corsage or the flowers. I like the corsage idea coz then she can dry and press the corsage and keep it forever (I still have my yr 10 corsage lol)

Anything else important? Formal transport etc?
In year 10 i just went to the formal with my partner and we hired a Mercedes and it was hawt lol In year 12 i went to the formal with 4 other girls so we hired a limo. It depends on if you're having Pre-Formal Drinks. Are you going to be with friends before the formal? If so, you can all pitch in money and get a limo! Or you can hire a small car for you and your partner.

something else that's important:
1. dont fuss over your partner at the formal.
2. don't leave her alone ALL night
3. be on a table with girls and guys so she can mix and mingle
4. introduce her when you say hi to your mates, otherwise she'll think you're embarrased to be seen with her

good luck!

i went with my mum for my suit, but i then took the chick who i went with to choose a shirt and tie. i had my tie match her dress. didnt do corsage or flowers, hardly any1 in my grade did a corsage, but its still cool if you do.

eek you don't have to match-match, it's probably better if you don't!

You don't have to go shopping with her to look for her dress, chances are your opinion will not influence her choice anyway. However you may like her to help you choose your attire. It depends on your relationship.

A corsage and flowers are expected. Either or both is fine.

Transport is up to you. IMO limos are overrated and heaps boring.

Don't forget to ask out an Australian Miss Universe and tell the media you're "totally stoked" if she accepts.
