Seeing as nobody has replied to your thread I guess I will. Our formal is at Taronga Zoo, so its a good location, but a little hard to get to considering that our school is on the southern 'border' of Sydney. I'm wearing a suit from Roger Davids, it was something like $70 to hire.

I wasn't organised enough to rent a suit but needed one anyway so I just bought one from Roger David. It set me back $450 but is nice and I could see myself wearing it again for job interviews etc. I don't understand people spending that money once off though. A few of my girl-friends bought $400 dresses and admit they'll never wear them again =/

If hire costs say $60 and the suit costs around $300, it's probably better to get the suit.

i bought a suit from kelly country, u know the one thats advertised on TV. anyway they are not as good as they say they would be. crap service but u could get a suit for like $120. and i think thats with the pants as well. so pretty good if ur on a budget. and our school went to the Epping Leagues Club for the formal. heard it was considered a '5 star' club. yeah right! we got a hall and we all paid $80 each. it was really a rip off. teh food was pathetic but the music was pretty good.

Just remember to have fun. And the suit will last you for a long time. AND you can look snazzy wearing a blazer jacket going out. :p

Go to places like:
Myer (i think)
Roger David
P & S Michael (lakemba/bankstown/parramatta/st ives/castle hill and a few more)

I know that at Lowes there are cheaper options.

See menswear in yellow pages

..or go to Westfield Parramatta or Bondi and spend time there

Year 10- $20
Year 12- $60 (everyone else was wearing it, nobody cared.)

Hair done at home with a whole pack of bobby pins. Makeup done at home too cause I only wore lipstick and had my eyebrows done. Shoes were my mother's.

Formal was alright. Year 10 was better though, mainly because I got my dress for a rad price.

Store buns and food bits in your bras because the food can be a bit eww.

Edit: oh, I take it that you're a boy. Underpants will do.
