Imo, questions should be asked by both authors, as it should engage the interviewer more.

doing it this term coming. watched bladerunner a few times and i love it. almost finished reading franky, also love that because of the obvious influence of enlightenment period in which it is written (i love it from reading about it in ext hist). after reading what people have been saying, i cant believe how little focus is being placed on religious allusions. there is so much you can do with them and so many links that can be made between the texts. this is already the most interesting topic ive done in english in school so far

The actual "religious" theme is considered in a more deeper level, ie. the responsibility of the creator to nurture their offspring. This is an extension of the religion theme in that creation and god-like connections are derived from. I reckon this theme of responsibility carries much more significance as this topic is a comparative study and the theme of responsibility is prevalent in both.

But you say "religious allusions"; I don't see how that is a theme. It's a technique or device, but not a theme, IMO.

what i mean by the religious allusions. is more or less the creator and creation idea, but just with more emphasis on direct links to the bible and such. eg, some people may infer that shelley is making an adam and eve sort of scenario by the monster forcing frankenstein to make a female accomplice. so yes it is techniques but it is also a theme that i feel isnt being discussed in enough depth. (from what ive read idk there are probably people that have done it well).

Blibical allusion is more appropriate, there are several references to the bible and God.

NOTE: not a theme

We are doing both at the same time. One lesson a week is on the AOS and the rest is on Bladerunner and Frankenstein.

btw it would be really mad if as many people doing this module can help each other out.
i think it is gonna be a bit tricky
2012 Graduate here.

We did Mod A last and I can tell you it's probably the easiest module so you don't have anything to worry about there :) (We did Hamlet and Conflicting Perspectives for B and C)

My advice would be to talk about;
1. Science - its relationship and impact on both human nature and the natural world
2. Responsibility of the creator - the creators' relationship and attitude towards their creations and their (mostly lack of) responsibility towards their creations
3. The god complex in man - pretty self explanatory, ties quite well into the point on responsibility and gives you a great opportunity to use "hubris" as a point which at the very least looks impressive
4. Dehumanisation - ties into the affects and stuff of science on human nature
5. CONTEXT - This has to basically be part of every point you make one way or another. Galvanism, Industrialisation, Commercialism, Capitalism, Romanticism, Gothic literature... they're all valid points of context to compare. BR is a bit harder to talk about context in but you can draw into the picture things like Hardboiled Crime if you do Crime in Ext 1. Religion also becomes quite a valid point to raise but it's not crucial to mention.

Unfortunately I only got 17/20 in the externals for Mod A but that's my own fault considering I didn't read even page 1 of Frankenstein but I guess it also goes to show that those points that everyone is bringing up is highly effective :)

That question is very broad and flexible compared to many other questions because you can talk about anything regarding contexts. Its not like 2012 Q where you had to talk about textual form. I did a practice essay for that question and my thesis was,' A text is a mirror of its time and values', and from there on I discussed the various similarities and differences between the texts occurring due to their contexts.

Possible Translation:- Our interest in the similarities between Frankenstein and Blade Runner is heightened because one is a book (hences uses literary techniques) and one is a film (hence uses cinematic techniques)

Hey Guys i'm also doing frakenblade for this module. I've been completing past HSC questions and don't know how to approach the 2011 HSC question:

In what ways does a comparative study accentuate the distinctive contexts of Frankenstein and Blade Runner?

I have themes to talk about and stuff. But i'm too sure about bringing the comparative study question in.

If someone could please give me any advice in approaching it i would much appreciate it :D

You could talk about how the two texts explore similar concerns (e.g. man's desire to play God, moral ambiguities of humanity, conflict between science and nature etc.) in different ways, accentuating their distinctive contexts.
