"Advances in biology, such as a greater understanding of the way in which light is detected, transmitted and interpreted, have led to the development of technologies to assist in vision."

Using examples, discuss the implications of the use of these technologies and possible directions for the development of technologies to aid those with visual difficulties. (7)

I know the current technologies, i.e. biconcave and biconvex lens to correct myopia and hyperopia, cataract surgery to replace opaque lens and LASIK eye surgery to carve the correct cornea shape, but possible direction for the development of technologies to aid those with visual difficulties? Should I just talk about bionic eyes or that retina thing they did in Melbourne or something?

Thanks
