Have you seen that they're offering a new Games Software Development Diploma at Hornsby TAFE? Course number 7510.

Express interest at http://infotech.hornsby.tafensw.edu.au/eoi.aspx

This course is going to be so coooool.

Also, check out the Games Developer Conference in Melbourne, beginning of December. http://www.agdc.com.au/

Creating new games is even better than playing them....

This is just a course that anyone can do right? Like a year 12 person?

Absolutely.....get in there and express interest.

Entry requirement is Year 12.

2 years with TAFE, get a Diploma in Software Develoment (Games).

Another two years at a major Uni, a Degree in Games.

A chance to work in one of the most fun industries....!

Mad not to.

Do they teach you not to spam forums with ads?

This is your last warning.

I would call it a career opportunity not spam. Its not like he is posting it in the wrong thread. I know the topic interests me, and im guessing it also interests others.

You obviously did not see the 8 or so other threads the post was repeated in.

Well, I guess a warning is better than being beaten with a baton.

Mustn't tell people about opportunities....oh no.... even if they ARE interested...and even if it is about making games....

But, one was to try to derive the underlying value systems and rules applied on the BOS forumsby observing the interchanges, it's clear that racism, sexism and abuse are allowed in these forums. Messages that say only two words such as "F - CK it" are left online, but messages telling about opportunies in new courses are officiously removed by the cityrail guard impersonators as vile spam.

To all real HSC students out there.......the best of luck over the next few weeks!

and the point is..

Some (perhaps most) of the thread contributors missed the point......which is.....that we need more girls/women to take up games development to extend the genres of games available.

Can you explain why very few girls take up games programming courses?

What would it take to encourage girls to take up games programming as a career?
