xrtzx: i got 187N as the force, it's just the addition of the FF which is equal to 0.3 x (cos10 x300) and component down the plane which is sin10 x 300.

i use rochford when i need it but my teacher is the best resource going dude.

say again, where did u get 10 degres from??

My mistake dude, the angle is 20 degrees, i was doing another problem at the same time i think. Put 20 degrees into my calucaitons, should come to 187N still.

Stress Question

Can someone help me out here with this multiple choice question from the 2004 HSC. I think they have got the answer wrong because I think it would be a double shear question not a single, so I think D is the answer


What does everyone think?

Digital Control Technology

In a nutshell a computer monitors, senses changes and then uses technology to rectify problems. I use ABS where a computer monitors the braking stress on each wheel, and if it senses a wheel locking from the braking it redistributes this force to other wheels.

Benefits include increased safety of cars, braking efficiency and in turn a greater fuel efficiency.

sorry to bring up an old thing but controll technology does not have to be digital.

it can be as simple as tying a dog to a tree so they can't go very far.

ie controlling where the dog goes using alolgue controll technology

True, but markers don't really like smart arse answers.

My teacher was a marker for engineering studies and he said they reward answers where they learn something new from the response. Which thinking of it now might go well with your example. It's been too long
