im reading over my bio notes on the option unit genetics...

can anyone tell me what a gene cascade is?...

"The study of mutations of homeotic genes shows that a small mutation can suddenly affect an organism as a gene cascade is altered"

i dont get the gene cascade bit. lol.

Gene cascades are what happens when a baby is developing. As one gene is triggered during development, that gene triggers the next gene, which turns on the next one and so on, hence the term "cascade". It is the homeotic genes that are the starters of gene cascades, so if there is a mutation of a homeotic gene, then the whole gene cascade sequence may be altered.
