This is the way i do general solutions...
1) sin x + cos x =1
i change this into R sin (x + α). where R=sqrt(a2 + b2)
and α= tan-1b/a
therefore we get: sqrt2 sin (x + п/4) =1
sin (x + п/4) = 1/sqrt2 (sin postive in 1st and 2nd quadrant)
x + п/4 = п/4 + 2kп, 3п/4 + 2kп (where k= 0, ±1, ±2......)
therefore x= 2kп , п/2 + 2kп
2) sqrt3 cos x - sin x = 1
changes to 2 cos (x - п/6) = 1
cos (x- п/6) = 1/2 (cos postive in 1st and 4th quadrant)
x - п/6 = п/3 + 2kп, 5п/3 + 2kп (where k = 0, ±1, ±2......)
therfore x = п/6 + 2kп, 3п/2 + 2kп
Sorry if this is confusing. There may be an easier way, however this is my solution
