Re: General Thoughts - Maths Extension 2

Could've been better, but could've been worse too, I guess. I hate how they pulled out all the Q7 and 8 inequality questions and replaced them with fucking conics x.x; Takes sooo long to do -.-;

Would've been able to do the polynomial roots question for Q4 and more parts of Q6 with more time, but eh

Re: General Thoughts - Maths Extension 2

a lot of people were telling me that questions 7 & 8 are so hard that im better off not even attempting it and rather go through 1~6, checking again and again for mistakes....
taking that advice, i went really slow through the questions so i didnt make silly mistakes, also, since the harder 3u are in the the last questions i honestly didnt revise much on that topic....

in addition to losing time, during reading time the last questions and it seemed possible,,,reaching back to my memory of the whiteboard in my 4unit classroom, i think i managed to squeeze out 3marks from question8.
gosh

who else heard this advice? was it just me...?haha-_,-;;
maybe they thought i wasnt capable!

If it was easier than last year (as you guys say) then around 80-85 will be the cut off for E4. I haven't looked at the test yet but it seems the majority of the 2007ers think it was easier but longer than the 2006

It is the raw mark right?? Out of 120??

I heard the late 90s will be the cut off for E4, is that true?

I think late 90s will get into e4 range which is also about 80%.

I found the paper a lot easier than past papers except last yr. i think 2007 was indeed longer than last and a bit harder too.

I'm estimating late 90s so hopefully scrape an e4.

hmm i have heard something like checking your previous questions for silly mistakes but only once and not again and again.. i mean you should always try something and see if you can do it ? but i guess IF you can weed out ALL the silly mistakes you will only get a max of 90? by not even trying you're cutting yourself from the top knowingly??

The exam was a pathetic excuse for a Extension 2 exam. Even questions 7 and 8 were not challenging. I'm going to be waiting very impatiently for the final results from this exam - I'm inclined to say that people who score under 50% should not be doing this level of mathematics.

There's always minus sign errors, and the fact that the Extension 2 exam is designed to be a time trial. Not that I expect people to get full marks, but I would expect students on top of their game in Ext2 maths to get over 100 marks raw.
