hey but for 5b) didnt you sovle for the constant value??
liek i think i had ln(32) at first

integrate 2t/(16 + t^2) yeah?
=ln(16 +t^2) + c
x=0, t=0
c= - ln(16)
x= ln(16 + t^2) - ln (16)
at t=4
x= ln (32) - ln (16) = ln (2)
:confused:

personally i found it quite easy :S but then again i have done 10 000 000 000 past papers :S. prolly 117+ :)))
chance i could get 120. but unlikely.

my assesment mark that my teacher handed in was 100, if i get 117-8/120 would that scale up to like 100?

I hate that attitude. What the fuck did you think it was going to be? The same type of questions every year to suit your neat litte sense of security in trying to memorise the types of questions they give? This is year 12, grow up - my brother in yr 9 could do the exams if it was the same thing over and over - BOS catches on, they wanted candidates to APPLY their knowledge of mathematics, not rote learn exact questions.

I know I ranted, but I am just sick of this attitude when people complain when they are confronted with the unexpected - such a child's attitude.
you're calling him a child ? wait...

Ah, yep. You get
x = ln 32 - ln 16
x = ln(32/16)
x = ln 2

Sorry, I was just remembering that off the top of my head, but yeah, that's right (or at least, I got that too).

i got k= 1/4... dunno how i got it though

i thought the exam was hard...but that was to be expected cos it's similar to other past exams. Don't think i'd get 100+

I got P(0.5,4.25).

After finding k, don't you just sub your k value into the condition you showed in (ii) to get the x value, then sub that x value into one of the two original equations to get your y value?

that was hard :( our trial was the hardest test so it wasnt like a big shock wen everyone sat this exam but it was still murder....wat was wit the exponential growth and decay question??!! they always put the hardest questions from each topic in it grrr...and that exponential equation in question6 :S ....and y BOS do u onl put on tiny question on parabola as locus in eveyr other paper then give us a 7 mark one wit fuckn discriminant and the money one...hard
They can test you on anything and everything.

Question 5b) (iv) was ln 2
Question 7a) (iii) k was 15/4
Question 7a) (iv) P (1/2, 4.25) ??
Question 7b) (ii) total shaded region was 4 units sq
Question 8a) (ii) November 2010
Question 8b) (iv) p=12 q=18
Question 9b) (i) 39/51
Question 9b) (ii) (39*26*13)/(51*50*49)
Question 10a) (iii) object returns at t=7.2 seconds

I think they are good.. only lost the four marks for Q10b)(ii) so hopefully no silly mistakes.

Overall - quite easy really
