Yes we've all seen this phosgene question in about every single goddamn chem trial paper.

But yes I still lose a mark for not properly explaining how increasing temperature favours the endothermic direction.

Does anyone have a good generic response / criteria to write about when answering these CT questions???

just link change in termperature --> rate + change in activation energy for molecules based on maxwell boltzman distribution curve --> relate to endo/exo --> change

so like
increase temp --> rate of both rev and fwd rxn increases --> bigger change to endo bc a larger proportion of molecules now pass the activation energy barrier vs exothermic where already a large amount of molecules had surpassed it, so basically endo has a bigger rate of reaction increase relative to the exo -(u can quickly sketch the two curves to show for larger markers) -> bring in collision theory --> so endo direction is favoured
