That photo of him you have as your icon was taken at a funeral, but has been used to represent him as the revolutionary, which I think is pretty awful considering when it was taken. I bet if he were alive today he'd be pissed off that such a private moment was being used in such a manner....

Anyway, back to the original question:
I wouldn't be willing to die, but I'd be willing to be sterilised so I couldn't have kids to compound the problem (seeing as I don't want em anyway). If like 75% of the population didn't have kids, then in a hundred years the population would be waaay low anyway, and nature and other species wouldn't be suffering as much... and noone would have to die unnecessarily.

lol geez louise...get over it! he's dead! who cares if it was taken at funeral (strange expression to have at a funeral, he looks very proud and regal...what exactly is your source?)...not him, not me, not everyone else buying his merchandise...only moral trippers like you. anyway, i think he's a handsome guy, and that's why i have him as my avatar...not because i respect him as a 'revolutionary'. as a general rule, i dislike revolutionaries, so you don't have to worry about poor old che being represented as one in my avatart.

yeah...i couldn't stand being alive and not having kids...to me and i'm guessing to billions of other people that would be severe suffering...and my ideal here is to eliminate suffering...and save the earth while i'm at it! :)

Use your imaginations people! we dont need any more culling, what we need is more innovation, not less. The know-how is out there and it can be done. I'm talking solar power, under-water colonies, desalination plants, wonder fertilizers and SPACE. We just dont really have mass access to all this because of economies. Think of what any of my aforementioned ideas would do to millions of people? eg. solar power would effect countless workers and super rich who mine/sell/use coal, oil etc. we'd be screwed, everyone would loose money. This stuff needs to be introduced slowly or we'd enter a new depression-dark age.
As for sterilization, i'd only do it if there were super robots who could easily replace my children in the workforce (although that too would screw the economy)

But thinking on culling terms...Did you know the world's entire population could be drowned in "the loch" in Scotland at the same time? That's nice and simple, but makes me think we aren't grossly overpopulated.

not grossly overpopulated? even if we evenly dispersed the world's neccessities for a healthy life (not wealth) people would still be malnourished. that's even when we are exploiting the land and not using sustainable farming! how do you expect to use irrigation without causing salinity? how do you expect to plough a paddock and not have the quality of the soil depreciate? the world's ability to produce resources for us is on a decline...whereas we are on an incline...sounds kinda stupid, doesn't it?

and what kinda stupid shit is that about robots? we have a problem with unemployment here, why would we want to make more employees?

Well that's the usual socialist doomsday scenario (booooring), but a negative attitude aint gonna solve notin i.e. "We all dead and i just wanna tell the world over and over again".
I'd like to say that man will find a way, and be content with that, but the reality is we arent permanent markers here...even if everything was A-OK for the planet and people, in a few million years the universe will shrink and the sun will run out of helium. There is no forseeable solution to salvage mankind permenantly, it's vainity to now think otherwise.
In regards of resources, the world has never produced SO much-HENCE the population explosion, but it's obviouse that all good things will one day come to an end unless we utilize the countless innovative ideas, not just on agriculture, but on everything. I mean once the soil 'inevitably' gives out, as you imply, we still have about...what? 70%? of the planet under the sea.
In the terms of unemployment, you may have noticed a huge decrease in the 'great socialist basin' of manufacturing in the west. It has declined due to cheaper labour overseas in developing countries (which you no doubt are deeply passionate about) and thru technological innovation I.E. machines, transforming our society into a service economy, while making it difficult for ex-industrial workers to find employment.

I rest my case....oh sorry, I thought that was a figure of speach...case closed. ;-)

i like it when people exploit the image of a man who fought for equality in 3rd work countries by buying brand lable clothing with his face emblazoned across the front, that in all probablity was made in third world countries.
its kinda like he's giving something back to the people...dont you think :/

i didnt
i was just making a general statement about the exploitation of his image.
one of the best stencils i ever saw was of che's face with mickey mouse ears. its sad how much of a trademark for rebellion che has become for those who know nothing about him.

firstly, i'm not a socialist, at all, just very cynical.

"In regards of resources, the world has never produced SO much-HENCE the population explosion"

the wrold is producing so much because we are exploting so many unrenewable reources! they ARE going to run out

"I mean once the soil 'inevitably' gives out, as you imply, we still have about...what? 70%? of the planet under the sea."

hahahahaha! that's so funny...cause like sand and rock is heaps feritle, especially stuff that has had salt infiltrating it for billions of years! anyway, by doing that, we'd be exploiting more of the earth's natural resources, that ARE going to run out.

"which you no doubt are deeply passionate about"

strange presumption to make...i realise that this is just another form of suffering due to globalisation and population explosion

look, i hate rebellion! ok all the revolutions so far, in my opinion, (OPINION BallymcBallTits YOU TWIT) have been futile! i think che's reaction to the government and everything else he fought was humerous, and futile! i don't have him up because he is a "trademark for rebellion" i have him up because

1. i think he is really really handsome, and

2. because i hate socialists, and find them and their systems just as funny and stupid as right-wing capitalists

...I DON'T GIVE A SHIT ABOUT CHE GUEVARA AS A PERSON!!!!! why don't all you moral trippers understand that?

It's funny because Carter (my pic) was/is a famous moral tripper, but n e way...bottom line is that no catastrophy re. resource depletion will occur thruout our generation. Now we can either:

1. Be happy with that and lead an uneventful, meaningless life
2. Discover religion and attribute it to God's wrath
3. Tell the people (who aren't born yet) the troubles they are likely to face ASSUMING that there is absolutly NO advancement from today to the next century
4. Not live in a consequent-free environment- doing our bit to ensure a similar life for our grandchildren (and dont tell me 'like what?')

p.s. re. ocean, I was alluding to marine life and the viability of responsible fish farming. If things got too hot upstairs, they could build a desalinisation plant, along with an underwater colony- easily supporting a tropical paradise. (i.e. it's not the end when they run out of wheat)

"it's not the end when they run out of wheat"

...but it is the end when they run out of things to run out of...it's so parasitic...just moving on to another resource, exploiting it and sucking it dry untill it is depleted and no longer there for the rest of the earth, and then moving some place else and doing the exact same thing.

"2. Discover religion and attribute it to God's wrath"

hehe, that was funny, seriousl, i'm not being facetious.

"3. Tell the people (who aren't born yet) the troubles they are likely to face ASSUMING that there is absolutly NO advancement from today to the next century"

i'm not saying there will be no advancements, i'm just saying that the advancements won't be adeuqate.

But if I sacrifice myself, how is the resulting affect on the planet of any benefit to me?
