oooh you better watch out agb *tells gestapo "kill any communist dictators...you can leave the jews alone now"*
That photo of him you have as your icon was taken at a funeral, but has been used to represent him as the revolutionary, which I think is pretty awful considering when it was taken. I bet if he were alive today he'd be pissed off that such a private moment was being used in such a manner....Originally posted by chelloveck
that is che guevara....he was a revolutionary in cuba...right hand man to fidel castro.

Anyway, back to the original question:
I wouldn't be willing to die, but I'd be willing to be sterilised so I couldn't have kids to compound the problem (seeing as I don't want em anyway). If like 75% of the population didn't have kids, then in a hundred years the population would be waaay low anyway, and nature and other species wouldn't be suffering as much... and noone would have to die unnecessarily.
i like it when people exploit the image of a man who fought for equality in 3rd work countries by buying brand lable clothing with his face emblazoned across the front, that in all probablity was made in third world countries.Originally posted by chelloveck
lol geez louise...get over it! he's dead! who cares if it was taken at funeral (strange expression to have at a funeral, he looks very proud and regal...what exactly is your source?)...not him, not me, not everyone else buying his merchandise...only moral trippers like you. anyway, i think he's a handsome guy, and that's why i have him as my avatar...not because i respect him as a 'revolutionary'. as a general rule, i dislike revolutionaries, so you don't have to worry about poor old che being represented as one in my avatart.
firstly, i'm not a socialist, at all, just very cynical.Originally posted by Alexander
Well that's the usual socialist doomsday scenario (booooring), but a negative attitude aint gonna solve notin i.e. "We all dead and i just wanna tell the world over and over again".
I'd like to say that man will find a way, and be content with that, but the reality is we arent permanent markers here...even if everything was A-OK for the planet and people, in a few million years the universe will shrink and the sun will run out of helium. There is no forseeable solution to salvage mankind permenantly, it's vainity to now think otherwise.
In regards of resources, the world has never produced SO much-HENCE the population explosion, but it's obviouse that all good things will one day come to an end unless we utilize the countless innovative ideas, not just on agriculture, but on everything. I mean once the soil 'inevitably' gives out, as you imply, we still have about...what? 70%? of the planet under the sea.
In the terms of unemployment, you may have noticed a huge decrease in the 'great socialist basin' of manufacturing in the west. It has declined due to cheaper labour overseas in developing countries (which you no doubt are deeply passionate about) and thru technological innovation I.E. machines, transforming our society into a service economy, while making it difficult for ex-industrial workers to find employment.
I rest my case....oh sorry, I thought that was a figure of speach...case closed. ;-)
beleive it or not, the planted does not revolve around humans...we are one species out of millions, were were, and should be again, a minute aspect of our lovel planet...Originally posted by iambored
what's the point of the planet with no one else living on it?
it won't benefit you...it'll benefit the planet...and also the very limited amount of humans i would leave alive in my idealOriginally posted by Rorix
But if I sacrifice myself, how is the resulting affect on the planet of any benefit to me?
