Hi I was wondering if anyone here does or knows someone who does usyd's geography major. I really enjoy hsc geo and am looking at doing this major along with the bachelor of science (health). I'm curious as to how many people do this major, how difficult it is (would it be possible to maintain high D/HD wam), how similar it is to hsc geography and whether it is an enjoyable course.

Maintaining a D/HD WAM is typically difficult. It obviously depends on what you're studying as some degrees are harder than others, but typically a HD WAM is thought to be roughly equivalent to 99.50 ATAR whereas D WAM is ~ 95. However there isn't scaling at uni, so you should take these with a grain of salt.

I don't have any advice for Geo/Health specifically, but I would recommend doing a bit of research about the job opportunities of this combination, specifically how many roles are typically open, the salary, overall satisfaction etc..

Thanks! yeah i'm looking to do med so my focus is more on doing a degree I will enjoy/succeed in rather than necessarily career opportunities - I'm planning on doing an MPH or masters in nursing/radiography if I'm unsuccessful in med entry. Part of my issue is apart from something in medicine (most likely emergency or IM) i'm not confident on what I want to pursue as a career so want to give myself a chance to mature before having locked into a specific career by doing an undergrad such as physio or radiography. Also have been told by many people to avoid med sci degrees (overly competitive/toxic culture) so this was what I thought would be the best solution - doing a relatively "easy" degree that I would enjoy and could specialise/make employable at post grad if necessary.

But if this is a bad plan please anyone let me know!
