yo just a quick question for short answ, when tf do we incorporate our own examples and when do we not? like ik for 4-6 markers or higher mark questions, that we need to, but why would i use it for a 3 marker.

i was doing 2022 hsc questions,

one of them was: Why are some small towns in decline (3 marks)

why would i need to use examples here, like i could state Dubbo and shit but i was just lazy. would i lose marks or no. the content i had was exact same...

Guys if they ask a fucking question of patterns of advantage and disadvantage in NY, I know the average AUD equivalent annual average income for each borough, but do I need to know the USD equivalent?? It’s not like the papers are marked overseas like IB…

Well I think that’s bad because basically all markers are from Sydney, so not only will they fact check more they’ll also know more from their own knowledge. Bias is also there - eg If you say “Liverpool is a disadvantaged area because….” and your marker is from Liverpool then they may get offended and mark you down. Idk that’s what my teacher said so we did New York instead.

as far as I'm aware that's illegal you can't be marking an exam subjectively and remember hsc markers have set times so I don't think they would really care about what suburb you pick just whether it actually answers the question

and plus they double mark, so if one marks harsh cause of that, the other one will be confused as to why it was given so low lol

bruh ik that's why his original comment on "if the marker was from Liverpool" 🤡 was so dumb lol, pretty sure hsc markers just tryna get the money and dip bro no one cares about their suburb at that age

Do you really think all people have the same mindset and agenda as you?

This issue was something raised by my school - avoid Sydney for everything except dominance and dependence like Sydney’s dominance over Newcastle, Wollongong and Canberra.

If you are planning to do Sydney for advantage and disadvantage, be very very cautious.

Sydney’s perfectly fine for urban dynamics, dominance and dependence (dominance over Newcastle, Canberra, Wollongong etc who depend on SYD) and nature of residential land use. Just be careful not to shit on particular suburbs too much, it may backfire. If you’re going to talk about specific disadvantaged suburbs then good to get reputable stats like the ABS.
