Hey all, my work involves standing up, then picking up stuff then putting them back to shelves. It only lasts for 3 hrs, for the first hour.. I am fine but when it gets to 2nd or 3rd hour my feet starts to sore and I feel so tired.. like I just want to sit and down and sleep.

Is there any way I can increase my energy levels so that I dont get tired much at work? I thought of gym but can it help?

thanks

I think exercise may give u more energy. Try swimming 30 mins a day.

Standing still for long periods always makes my feet sore. Try moving around a bit.

You might also need a snack as it might be a sign your blood sugar has dropped a bit, try having a good meal before work if possible with a low gi carb (Grainy bread, pasta, basmati rice, museli, oats) so you don't spike your blood sugar and then have a slump.

If you are really concerned ask your doctor to run a blood test, things like low iron levels, descreased thyroid function etc can have fatigue as a symptom.

I;d say though you just need an energy boost, try a snack at work.

I stand for 12 hour shifts (except for the 10min breaks), I'm usually feeling it around the 10 hour mark. You're a dude (apparently) so I'm ruling out heels, harden up :]

As far as energy... make sure your diet isn't full of crap. If you're eating stuff that makes your blood sugar crash that is probably a big part. Exercise will probably also help.

Rice is high GI, that means Rice's like Jasmine or normal white rice spike your blood sugar, your body uses the energy quick (like sugar etc) and then you feel tired...try basmati, brown or other lower gi rices

I concur with melsc...watch your blood sugar. I get the same thing and mine is blood sugar related. Try and eat low gi and high protein foods before work. Energy from protein lasts longer than carbs. I usually eat eggs or raisin toast for breakfast with milk to try and get the energy on the up.
Make sure you eat lunch too...if you don't like brown bread try the low gi white rolls at bakeries. And try and put meat on your sandwich.
Works for me :)
