Hey guys,
i got my math trial results yesterday so here are my marks and weighings for all assessments:

Task 1: 98% (worth 15%)
Half yearly: 78% (30%)
Task 3: 95% (15%)
Trials: 80% (worth 40%)

My overall rank is approx 7th.
Any chance of getting a high band 5 or even b6 overall for gen. maths hsc or have i screwed my chances?

98% with 15% weighting = 14.7%/15%
78% with 30% weighting = 23.4%/30%
95% with 15% weighting = 14.25%/15%
80% with 40% weighting = 32%/40%
Total: 84.35%/100%

Really depends on your externals. Also depends on your schools test and how they moderate it. Since they provide different assessments the internal band 6 cut offs are assessed differently.

Reckon you would want at least 87.5% overall or better to be able to get a Band 6.

Also my opinion is Multiple Choice questions is the easier of the two sections in comparison to Short Answer.

In the future best to provide school ranking/and number of people within respective subject.

Getting a Band 6 in General Mathematics is tough. A lot of students who drop down from 2 Unit maths have this blind assumption that it will be a 'walk in the park'.

Roughly speaking around 5-6% of the state can get that Band 6 in NSW.
