No need to mention the edit that you made, when you are using log you should always assume it has a base 10, unless specified otherwise.

In mathematics though, just a "log" means base e (whereas in chemistry, it usually is intended to refer to base 10).

Well in my experience with 2u exams, they would always mention log base e rather than log on its own.

I'm pretty sure some past HSC papers have used just log (not sure whether they were 2U), but in mathematics (mathematics in general, not specifically HSC), "log" refers to base e unless otherwise specified.
