"Girls Only Want What They Cant Have"

I've recently copped this line off this guy I have VERY strong feelings for.
See, he thinks I started liking him only AFTER her got a GF, which just isnt true.
I've been crazy about him all along, and now that he and his GF have broken up, he doesnt know if he should take the plunge with me, for fear that I only ever wanted him cause I couldnt have him.
He's so scared of getting hurt, but so am I.
What do you think? Do girls REALLY only want what they cant have?

OK...
now justify that statement.
Silly Boys.
I'm sure any guy can justify it by providing numerous personal experiances and examples viewed.

Enough with the ladder theory! lol Sometimes it's true, cos it makes you realise that something you thought would always be there is now gone, but at the same time, false... it's not always the case that girls want what they cant have

not everyone needs justification for everything they do/say.

It was easier to refer to the ladder theory when it was basically going to say everything I was about to type.

Guys don't do it generally, they will always try for the best they can get, and if they can't get it THEN they will fall back to the next best option.

But the people who are affected by their actions may need to hear their justifications. Simple accepting simply isnt enough.
Anyway, no one can say that girls alone only want what they cant have.
To say that would have to be THE most unjustified comment ever made.

I will say it again, guys will want something whether they can have it or not.

They will just look for the highest ranked availible/possible option (this doesn't mean people in relationships are off bounds) and then try for that.

Of course I'm generalising.

Can someone please explain to me what the Ladder Theory IS, exactly?

Best to read all of it for yourself really, but you can get the jist in the first 2-3 pages.

I guess the main theory is centered around guys will think about having sex with every female out there, while females see some men as strictly plutonic (friends ladder).

It then branches out into some other social commentry.

It is a generalisation and written in a humerous manner and slightly exagerated in some places, but the core principles are applicable to most people.
