im curious to know when gmail will go out of beta!! it seems that most people are able to get hold of account now as so many people have invites.
while were on google.. did anyone see the thing on 60 minutes about them last sunday night?? my teacher recorded it and brang it to school.

For some people, you could backup your hard-drive onto gmail if you had cable!

And their whole ploy with the beta was just a marketing strategy, you want what you can't have - and the whole invitation thing was all about being part of the special crowd - and it was a brilliant plan as well. Genius.

I've got 50 invite also. Given 1 out the week before & it automatically "refills" back to 50 this week.

hopefullt they'll increase attachments to 705mb :p

there will be no more need for p2p or torrents.

It was announced April 1, 2004 and went Beta shortly thereafter. I got mine on June 24 (back when it was rare, heh)

Attachment size could never get that big, simply because most people's upload speeds wouldn't be up to it. I wouldn't be surprised if it went up to about 50 though.



Anyone else see Google Gulp?

People with cable or fast ADSL could handle it

not that I have cable :(

The main thing stopping it is the way email is sent through servers doesn't support large files well.
