I wouldn't completely ignore Maths in Focus. It may have basic questions but it is good as you said to build a foundation on. If you are looking for a good 3 unit book, Cambridge and Fitzpatrick. You might want to do some past papers too from top selective schools.

I use Fitzpatrick for 2u. Is that good for 3u?
And those success one books for past papers are good, but I only have one for Biology not maths so i dont know.

There's this old green book by Phoenix, has exam questions sorted into questions with working, etc.

Maths in Focus + Fitzpatrick + Past HSC questions = LEGENDARY!
However with maths in focus do only a few questions to make sure you understand the concept then move on to fitzpatrick and hsc questions
