hd = 7
d = 6
cred = 5
pass = 4
i believe pass conc/fails depend on uni (3 or 0 or whatever)

similar to wam (weighted average mark) but less accurate. a lame attempt to replicate the us system

Yes. Say you do 4 units and get 1 pass, 2 credits and 1 distiction- ur GPA = 5 (Credit Average).
You just add up the numbers that correspond to ur grades, and then divide them by the number of units you do and u get ur GPA
thanku i was wondering the same thing

GPA is a calculation which reflects the overall quality of your grades throughout the course

it is calculated with an algerbraic equation:

(4a + 3b + 2c + 1cq + 0f) divided by e = GPA

a = number of credit points you get a HD/D in

b = number of credit points in which you recieve a 'credit'

c = ' ' in which you get a pass

cq = ' ' conceded pass

f = ' ' fail

e = total number of credit points for which you are enrolled.

oh ok you forgot the brackets

it should of looked like:

(4 + 5 + 5 + 6) /4 = 5

oh well doesn't matter

OMG. I'm certain everyone knows its meant to have brackets! You remind me of the people in class who correct the most petty mistakes made by teachers thinking they're clever. Blah!

well, yeah i agree a bit, but surely giving 'equal status' to 2 students who get straight 74's and straight 66's?
same with straight 51's and straight 64's.
to make it more accurate we can change the difference between cutoffs for gpa marks (ie 14 or whatever marks difference gives the same grade)
change the differences to 5 points:
so 50-54 gives 3 points
55-69 gives 4 points 60-64 gives 5, etc..
which no doubt is a more accurate reflection
go as far as to make the difference 1 and its good ol' WAM
