Long story short:

-Expecting HD, but got D.
-Viewed my exam paper today, no clerical error on my final exam paper
-When i combined my RAW mark, i'm on HD
-My final mark, 9 off HD

First time trying to grade appeal. So my question is worth the time and effort to appeal against it? Also, i had a look at the grade appeal form but none of the grounds for grade appeal related to what i need?

Grounds for a Grade Appeal are limited to:
  • the Unit Convenor did not provide the Unit Guide as required
  • the assessment requirements as specified in the Unit Guide were varied in an unreasonable way
  • feedback was not provided as specified by the Unit Convenor or as detailed in the Unit Guide
  • due regard was not paid to the evidence of illness or misadventure that was submitted by the specified date
  • the student has been disadvantaged in some way due to the conduct of an assessment task
  • the assessor's judgement was not objectively applied because of prejudice against the individual*

Have you contacted the unit convener? You need to do this before submitting a formal application for grade appeal.

Contact the convenor first - they are the first person who can possibly have an influence on your mark and will be involved anyway if you appeal. Scaled final marks are very different to raw marks - if your mark has gone backwards it just means that there were several people who got even better marks than you, which pushes your weighted mark backwards. A D is still a good mark - an appeal purely on the basis of your scaled mark not being the same as your raw marks will not be successful.
