are grievance procedures the same as the dispute resolution process i.e negotiation,mediation, conciliation, arbitration etc? otherwise how do they differ? please help! :confused:

grievance procedure..
Dispute>meeting between workers + supervisors>meeting between workers + higher management>conciliation involving disputing parties + IRC commissioner>formal hearing of the dispute-arbitration> final decision made by IRC which is legally binding

grievance procedues are the steps to be followed in order to resolve a dispute. so yes, they are practically the same thing. the different is that grievance procedures are more specific to the individual as the procedure and the conditions should be outlined in the employment contract. whereas the dispute resolution process is more a broad term used for the generic method of resolving disputes.
