If your skin tone is warm, then gold usually looks better.
If your skin tone is cool, then silver usually looks better.
If your skin tone is neutral, then both suffice.

Here's a guide: http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art33614.asp

Good quality silver (925) is okay, regular silver you buy in jewellers oxidizes really quickly and it looks really ugly when the colour goes grey and fades.
If you really want the silver colour, go for white gold.

all the silver you buy in jewellry stores is stamped 925... it's just sterling silver.
and you can buy the cleaning cloths for about $10, just wipe it and it comes up like new.

and i agree, gold is tacky... looks try-hard-ish.

Gold is not tacky.

If anything, silver is a lot more "try-hard-ish" and tacky than gold. I don't see wannabe goths decked out in gold. I see them in what looks like aluminium foil. And plus, its what all the 10 year old chicks wear because they can't afford anything better.

Saying silver is better than gold is like saying that cubic zirconias are better than diamonds.
Yeah, maybe if you're a tightarse.

The cloths don't really work by themselves, you get much better results with a cleaning agent, but you could spare yourself the trouble and buy white gold.

Remember: Not all gold is yellow! There's red gold too!

And on another note, lots of stores sell .725 or .750 gold.

What i don't understand is: how are people coming to the conclusion that silver can be superior to white gold..?
What, it's too soft? Then get it 9 carat or something.

I mean, i have plenty of silver jewellery. But given the chance i would gladly exchange them for the equivalent in white gold.

One of you silver lovers explain this logic to me.

If you wear silver and whitegold together, the whitegold can look cheaper then the silver. Sus I know, but silver looks more, well silver, which means the whitegold looks like some wierd ass crap metal.
That said, I <3 my whitegold stuff, I just dont wear it with silver :p

yeah but my whitegold tends to look like stainless steel too.... only less bright then the silver, so it looks odd. Which is my point, dont wear silver and whitegold together, as it doesnt go well.
