'crimes againt america' ok dont know what u on about

i dont know why your laughing but it was the pakistani govt who caught mr habib and the first thing they did was send him to his country of origin (which was egypt cause he had an egyptian passport at the time) and the stupid egytians handed him over to americans, the rightful thing for america to do is send him to australia to where he has been residing for nearly his whole life

Holding them for 3 years even if they charged him is inhumane, and I can't think of any legal presedence for it. But they didn't charge him with anything anyway, so holding him for anything more than a couple days ( I do believe that is the amount of time they have in Aus) is illegal and quite wrong really.

give the guy a chance. Even if he went overseas to visit terrorists so what? That shoudlknt be a crime.

The american governmetn didnt charge him?? after like 2 or 3 years in jail.

If the american governmetn would do something like that to someone ----------i dont think its to far fetched to believe they torture pple etc. Especially after seeeing the abu graid torture pictures etc.

Going out of your way to visit terrorists in foreign countries is a crime and it should stay a crime. Everything that Habib has said has done nothing to change my mind that he was at least a supporter of terrorism, if not more than that.

As for his torture claims, that is exactly what the terrorists are trained to do. Terrorist training handbooks from all around the world show that they are trained to claim torture whenever they are captured, to put pressure on their captors. His refusal to answer questions that are the most interesting are further proof that Habib is hiding something. Why wouldn't he answer questions regarding how could he finance his trips overseas on an invalid pension, why was he searching for work overseas while on an invalid pension (as an invalid pension means that you cannot work because of your invalidity), what he was doing in Afghanistan (a great tourism place) etc.

well in the end..wateva u think dosent really matter since hes been released and thats the end of that. whether he was guilty or not isnt relevant. one is innocent until proven guilty and he wasnt proven guilty so end of story.

they didnt exactly say he was innocent though either, hence the constant supervision.

There's more to it than that. They couldnt convict him and take him to trial without jeapordizing informants and people under cover.

The reason why he's not answering those questions is because he's going to answer them in court and does not want to leak it to the media (yet). Otherise the media will crazy (as they tend to do at times).

And how would you know what terrorists are trained to do? Have you managed to grab one of these so-called "terrorist training handbooks" and read them?

You did not see a few bruises on his body or are you going to tell me that he caused it himself?

If you claim that they are trained to make torture claims, how come the Egyptians or US (whoever tortured him) hasn't been release a public statement confirming that they haven't tortured him? I'm sure they would've by now if your claim is true.

Let me guess. You're either a CIA or ASIO agent.

well, then the american government would've tried to find evidence to prove him guilty or create one. You how powerful America is. Except they couldn't. And I don't think you can speak on behalf of pakistani's. I'm pretty sure most of them would think he's innocent. I'm australian but I don't think he's guilty. So that's a stereotypical statement you've got there.

I believe they did torture him.

However i also believe he does have terrorist connections and probably did belong there. The pakistani government believes he is guilty...

They probably did find evidence, however they perhaps couldn't give evidence for him as it would compromise other things (as katie tully said, leak informants etc).

But the pakistani govn. doesn't necessarily represent the people. I mean, you can't say the same about australia: John howard thinks habib's guilty therefore all of australia must agree with him.

If they still had some evidence, I'm sure they would've kept him locked up and have some sort of "secret trial", US officials only etc. etc. I'm sure they're capable of that (if there was evidence). After all, they are America

wtf but u're missing my point, i wasn't speaking on behalf of the people.

America does as much as u hate them still believe in freedom, it upsets them i'm sure that they have to keep people in this way so they are slightly compassionate when it comes to letting people go...

*cough**cough* nice speech there, keep it coming. I don't hate america. Just G.W.Bush and his friends. Hence the american government!

edit: You haven't seem to read the second paragraph in my previous post which has nothing to do with the behalf of the people thingy
