I have to write a speech on hamlet, but im having a hard time coming up with a concept that i can talk about for 5 minutes straight.
There's death and how he kills his uncle, but I don't know what I can base my actual arguement on .
Can anyone help?
Thanks.

there are a few major concepts in Hamlet that you could write about.
the easiest ones i think would be

  • insanity
  • the existence of heaven, hell and purgatory
but as it depends on your person view on Hamlet, you could also talk about more minor concepts such as revenge, guilt or ambition, but they would be harder to talk about for five minutes.

hope this is helpful =]

Why did Hamlet take so long to revenge his father's murder? Why when presented with such motivation and opportunity did he fail to act?

University lecture series have been devoted to this so I'm sure you could condense the ideas and arguments down to a 5 minute speech. Remember that the key is to involve your audience. Asking questions, appropriate and considered pausing and good use of rhetoric (repetition is your friend) are the cornerstones of a good speech. Making your audience think rather than making them listen is the best advice I can give.

Best Regards
