Essentially what is the true meaning of the play. What's it all about. Which themes are the most important to you.

Don't be too afraid, a lot of the state doing Hamlet will be essentially in the same boat as you are in atm. It's the hardest text for Module B.

Yeah, it's all personal with Hamlet. How has critically studying it affected you, which themes appealed to you, your own deductions from the play.

If you're having trouble understanding Hamlet, John Marsden's Hamlet, a novel of the play, could be for you. The Lion King is also apparently based on Shakespeare's Hamlet. :)

In your essay you could evaluate themes in the play (judge how important and valid they are) and analyse language features (state what language features are contained in the play, give their effect and evaluate their effectiveness). Remember to write about how the play has affected you, what your reaction to it was and what themes were significant to you (if the question is a personal one that implies a first person response).

Also if you're into movie you could discuss the actors' interpretations of the character, eg compare Kenneth Branagh and Mel Gibson? John Marsden's take vs movie take vs original?

Not if you're studying the play though. You can't reference the other reworkings or adaptations.
