I accepted my bachelor of criminology and criminal justice offer recently and have enrolled successfully in 2 prescribed courses and 1 free elective of the 2 free electives Im supposed to do. However my fourth elective, Psychology 1A (PSYC1001) suggests I do not meet the criteria to enroll in that course. The handbook itself does not state any prerequisites so I assumed I would be allowed to do it. None of the classes clash or anything so it definitely could not be that which is stopping me from enrolling altogether.

Could someone please explain to me why I cant do psychology 1a as a free elective as soon as you can! It will save me lots of grief

There is a possibility that they are waiting for a certain number of Psychology students to enrol into the course before letting anyone enrol. It wouldn't be fair to Psychology students if all the places ran out before they could enrol since it's a core subject for them.

You may need to wait a bit, but contact UNSW for confirmation on the issue.

Yep. This is true. I went to the science advising day today and a few classes are being "reserved" for students of exercise physiology. You have to either select another class and check whether you get that red writing error (clash, don't meet the criteria etc) or wait. But I would suggest you lock in a timetable for the meantime, the best one you can get because they might not create more new classes later on. PSYC A is crazy popular.
