I can calculate the heat of combustion of Ethanol per mole well enough, but i need to know how to calculate the heat of combustion of ethanol per litre. Can anyone help me? i know im being a pain but i really am not good at this ethanol business.

Cheers, Mark.

Edit: Wait, do you just divide by the molar weight of the substance?

You calculate how many moles is required per litre, say 2, by using n=cv then since you already have it in J/mol- you multiply it by 2 to get it in litres or however many moles one litre is.

heat of combustion is measured in Joules (or kilojoules) basically to find HoC per anything you simply divide the HoC value by the value required, for instance HoC/L is HoC divided by Litres or Volume. HoC/mole = HoC divided by mols. Hence why the acquired value is give the unit J/L or J/mol
