i think you should also consider how much content you need to know in the exam, like for modern history you can be asked to write a 25 mark essay on a single dot point in the syllabus, so you basically need to memorise everything where as in physics even if you skipped something in the syllabus, it would only cost you 2-5 marks, not 25 marks, and you dont even need to memorise formulas, theyre given to you in the exam
Same with ancient, and I’d say ancient is harder as you have to remember very specific sources etc. in modern you can play around as there’s more of them and it’s a bit more political focused

i asked this same question on discord, got some interesting responses, but i really want to hear for those who do lots of humanity subjects-- what is the heaviest subject, the one you just have to spend more time studying to be on the same pace with your other ones?
exclude extension subjects because 4U math (as in mx2, mx1, math adv content) will obviously have more content than HMS
could've sworn you've been told multiple times that 4u maths doesn't have much content 😭
HMS surely has more content than 4u 😭

time spent studying ≠ content tho. even tho 4u doesn't have much content u still gotta study cuz maths is hard

for beginners, you don't need to be that advanced in the shi anyway im pre sure
for continuers, you would've been learning the language before yr11 so it aint just 2 yrs

Yep I’ve heard HMS is apparently the highest content course in the HSC. 4U maths imo is most time consuming, but expect English can be too at the top level

4u barely has any content its so embarrasing. UK's A Level further math literally does everything a first year aussie uni would cover.

yall need to stop thinking 4u math is hardest school subject in the world

my father even went to tsinghua unlike yalls

STEP tess A Level syllabus to gain entry to Cambridge, STEP is harder than 4u. Therefore A Level is harder.

That’s like comparing the ucat to a hsc course
Cambridge has consistently in the past been the top university in the world

I agree though, step is less trainable and is probably more difficult in itself. But we were comparing a levels which step isn't

bro you can theoretically take some IMO questions and say they only need 4U content to solve 😭

just cuz STEP is harder doesn't mean A levels are harder than 4u...

even if we don't consider STEP to be a standard hs exam, gaokao is definitely one, and I would like to assume its maths exams are harder than 4u.

also all that bs stuff online about how gaokao is cruel must be an exaggeration by a bunch of racist americans, cause my father actually got into tsinghua and graduated from tsinghua.
