i realised i dont have a tax file number. how long does it take to make one?

Not long, just get the form from the tax office, fill it out and then you have to have suitable ID I think.... I think it takes about 14 days for your to recieve it. it isn't a big deal or anything.

Got mine when I started work. No big deal, as braindead said. It doesn't take too long to arrive.

You can usually get the requried forms at any newsagency and then send those away.

LOL this thread is so old. I think you should be able to download a form from the ATO website as well, at http://www.ato.gov.au .

lol @ old thread .. might be useful to someone else though.

It takes about 3 weeks to get a TFN after you lodge a form.

on topic, last time i went to the ATO, i saw on the net, taht you can do your tax file number online, and not go to the net at all!
