Hello all,

With a HECS-HELP Loan they say if you pay $500 or more upfront you will get 10% off your contributions, does this mean if I were to pay the $500 would I get 10% off my total contributions for all of the HECS loan eg. For duration of the degree, or does it only mean 10% off contributions for that year thus having to pay $500 a year upfront.

Thanks ;)

don't give them anything... It's not worth it, you're better off just leaving it and blowing that $500 on living and doing what uni students do... If the folks are paying, different story maybe...

I heard they're scrapping the 10% discount from 2014.

My understanding was that say you wanted to pay off $500, then you would only need to pay $450 to pay off the $500?

I could be wrong though.

Wow, totally not worth it if this is the case! Their wording is terrible so can someone confirm this?

That's correct.
