Can anyone tell me the salary that you start paying HECS off at? also, How does the payment work - is it a weekly deduction/monthly - how much?

It's as though your HECS repayments were an extra tax. If the governments reforms get through the threshold will increse to $30,000 from the about $20,000 that it is on now.

hmm about the HECS thingo, if i transfer to another course next year, will i get affected by the new HECS system?

I believe the bulk of the reforms apply to students commencing in 2005 - so you should be safe until then. But I'm not 100% sure on that.

Yes, if you start uni before 2005 and don't take more than a certain number of years (4 or 5 I think) to complete your degree then you can slip in under the current system. Or if the law doesn't get passed then everyone goes under the current system.

their hecs fees will go up...
but i think my careers teacher said something that people who apply this year bu defer and start in 2005 aren't going to be affected by the increase... please correct me if i am wrong
