I remember asking the same question early in the year and my teacher said to not to. Also practically, they'll know more about it so you'd have to know it very well. But I don't think you're allowed to use it

My teacher (who marks the HSC) said you CAN use a prescribed text from standard for an additional text in Belonging, but it's highly UNRECOMMENDED.

yea i'm pretty sure you're allowed to use year11 texts, but they would know the text well , same case as mine i guess

Oh. Sweet :)
I think that's sorta advantageous because you wont need to explain what your related text is about to the same extent as some random text that barely anyone knows (like.. give a background or whatever, the relationships of characters)
