So its the time of the year again when I have to choose electives for my semester. I am currently at the following:

1. COMP115 Introduction to Comsci
2. COMP155 Introduction to Comsci (Advanced)
3. STAT278 Computer Simulation
4. STAT279 Operations Research 1
5. STAT378 Statistical Computing
6. CHN328 The Traditional Chinese Novel

I'm most probably gonna select 2 (my core units are ACST300, ACST354 and ACST356) from this list but would like to find out on the usefulness of the units (except for the CHN) and how interesting they are? Also, is prior knowledge in comsci necessary for COMP155?

Don't do that weiwern. You're obviously mathematical and this subject will just bore you to death.

STAT278/378 are straightforward and will keep you interested.

I was looking through the unit outlines and STAT278 and 378 both involved using MATLAB and a couple of other software, but which one has a greater emphasis of MATLAB?
